Candour is the product of Kat Mayhew and Guada Oliver, two friends who came to their love of wine in very different ways. Both come from great New World wine regions: Kat from the Willamette Valley in Oregon – Pinot Noir country – and Guada, from Malbec-loving Argentina.

Kat and Guada met in business school in the UK and gravitated towards each other as the two wine-obsessed people in their class. They recognised the need for great wine to be more approachable, more environmentally friendly, and more fun. They didn’t see anything quite like what they envisioned, so they moved to London and set out to create it.

Guada Oliver

Guada started her professional journey in wine by working on the business side of things in her hometown of Buenos Aires. As a brand manager for several great Argentine wineries, she got to taste Pinot Noir from the coast of Buenos Aires, high-altitude Torrontés from Salta, and of course, Malbec from Mendoza. She counts memories of wine-fueled asados with family and friends as some of her favourites, and she loves sitting in the sunniest corner of her house with a good book and a glass of sherry.

Kat Mayhew

Kat deepened her appreciation for wine while working as a sommelier in the US and the UK. Some of her most memorable wine experiences: drinking Oregon Syrah chilled in a river with her dad on a camping trip; blind-tasting Chenin after a long restaurant shift with her co-workers, and pairing Tibouren rosé with BLT sandwiches on a patio with friends.
